Kenneth Barnes

Kenneth Alvin Barnes, 83, of Sarcoxie, Missouri, departed this life Friday morning, June 30, 2017 at his home.

Kenneth entered this life on December 7, 1933 in Lawrence County, Missouri to the union of the late Alvin C. and Florence (Henry) Barnes. He was a graduate of Mt. Vernon High School. On August 12, 1955 he was united in marriage to Marie Osborn, together they shared sixty one years. In 1965 he moved California, and worked nine years for Memorial Union, University of California, Davis, California. He later moved to Ocean City, Maryland, working as the director at the Convention Hall for seven years. He later moved to Sarcoxie, Missouri and retired in 1999 from Schreiber Foods, Inc. In Carthage, Missouri. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Sarcoxie, Missouri. Kenneth enjoyed yard work, gardening and traveling. His greatest travels were to see his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Teryl Dryden; two sons-in-law, Lee Rogers and Steve Dryden; and one brother-in-law, Richard Christian.

Kenneth is survived by his wife, Marie, his children, Keith Barnes and wife, Julie, of Tyaskin, Maryland, Christopher Barnes and wife, Michelle of Pierce City, Missouri and Sheryl Rogers of Wentworth, Missouri; his grandchildren, Timothy Barnes of Salisbury, Maryland, Kelly Barnes of Goldsboro, North Carolina, and Lisa Dryden of Princess Ann, Maryland; brother, Carroll Barnes and wife, Patty, of Sacramento, California and sister, Beverly Christian of Clever, Missouri; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Graveside memorial services were held Thursday, July 6, 2017 at Sarcoxie Cemetery with Eric Roach officiating. The family has directed memorial contributions to Hospice Compassus and may be left at the funeral home.
