Bob George

Robert R. George, age 79, of Joplin, Mo. passed away at 10:02 a.m. Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin. Bob was born April 28, 1938 in Bentonville. Arkansas. He moved to Joplin in 1999 from Wichita, Ks. where he was employed as Assembly Production Manager for TWECO Products. As a hobby, Bob owned Bob’s Rod and Reel, a custom rod and fishing reel repair business in both Joplin and Wichita. Bob was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a member of College Heights Christian Church.

Bob is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary K. ( Brentlinger) George. Additional survivors include a son, Rusty George and wife Lorrie, Santa Clarita, Ca., one daughter, April Shaw and husband Tim, Phoenix, Az., one sister, Bertha George, Colorado Springs, Co. and four granddaughters, Naomi, Madelynn, Lindsey, and Sidney. He was preceded in death by a brother, Merlyn Plumlee. Bob was an extremely grateful and happy man with a big smile and known for loving Jesus and his family.

Memorial services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at College Heights Christian Church Chapel. His son, Rusty will officiate. Visitation will follow the service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are requested to College Heights Christian Church Transportation Ministry. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to the Mason-Woodard Mortuary and Crematory.
