Doris JoAnn Farris, 81, Reeds, MO, passed away Sunday, September 3, 2017 at St. Luke’s Nursing Center, Carthage. Doris JoAnn Williams was born June 13, 1936 in Jasper County, Missouri; a daughter of the late Vernie Williams and Jestina Henry Williams. She was a graduate of Carthage Senior High School, Class of 1954 and received her BA degree from MSSC, December 1971. She married Kenneth Farris on February 9, 1958 in Carthage; he survives. JoAnn was a secretary and vice president of the United Missouri Bank Trust Department, retiring in November of 2008 after 35 years. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Carthage.
Additional survivors include two daughters; Mary (Wallace) Casteel, Reeds, MO and Dorris (Kent) Boyd, Reeds, MO; a sister, Verna Mae Buchanan, Carthage and one brother, Wayne Williams, Reeds, MO; 3 grandchildren, Erica (Boyd) Marrs, Jason Boyd, and Anna (Casteel) Hodge; six great-grandchildren, Wyatte, Hoyt, Shayla, Hadlee, Bricen, and Miles.
She is preceded in death by one granddaughter, Amanda Leah Boyd.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at Knell Mortuary. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 7, 2017 in the Knell Mortuary Chapel. Rev. David Cook will officiate. Burial will be Williams Cemetery, Reeds, MO. Memorial gifts are suggested to the First Christian Church, Carthage, MO in care of Knell Mortuary.
