Ethel Gray

Ethel Dora Gray, age 79, of Joplin, Missouri, passed away at 5:19 a.m. on Saturday, September 16, 2017, at her home. She was born January 4, 1938, in Aurora, Missouri, the daughter of John and Laura Mae (Williams) Ellis.

Ethel was a 1956 graduate of Mt. Vernon High School and retired from Sunbeam Manufacturing in Neosho, Missouri. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her grandchildren.

On June 26, 1965, she married Arthur James Gray, in Kansas City, Missouri. He preceded her in death on September 11, 2016.

She is survived by her son, Kevin Gray and his wife, Heather, of Joplin, Missouri; one daughter, Arteth Birkinshaw and her husband, Peter, of Manchester, England; two brothers, George Ellis and his wife, Faye, of Mt. Vernon and Kenneth Ellis and his wife, Liberty, of Springfield, Missouri; one sister, Jean Konomos of Raymore, Missouri; two grandchildren, Tabitha and Starzia Gray and several nieces and nephews.

Her parents, John and Laura, daughter, Denise Ann Gray, brother, Joe Ellis and brother-in-law, George Konomos, preceded her in death.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 23, 2017, at the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. Burial will be at the Springfield National Cemetery.
