Paul Andrews

Paul Aaron Andrews, age 63, passed away at 5:30 am, Thursday, September 21, 2017 at his home following an illness.

Mr Andrews was born May 17, 1954 in Joplin, Missouri. His parents were Leo and June (Bruce) Andrews. He was a lifetime area resident.

He graduated from Riverton High School with the Class of 1972. After attending a few college classes, he entered the U S Navy. A few years after he was discharged from the Navy, he joined the Missouri National Guard, retiring from there with a total of 23 years of military service. He worked as a custodian for the Riverton KS Schools, for 29 years, retiring in November, 2013.

He was a member of the Masonic lodge, Baxter Springs, the Mirza Shrine, Pittsburg, KS, and the Scottish Rite, Fort Scott, KS. His greatest interest was his grandkids who affectionately called him “Papa” His favorite pastime was fishing.

Paul was married to Dorothy Irene Ford on Nov 12, 1982 in Galena, KS. She survives.

Additional survivors include one son, Jordan Paul Andrews, (fiancé, Amy Lankford), Galena, KS; three daughters, Sarah Capp (husband, Matt) Joplin, MO, Melissa Abbott (husband, Justin), Galena, KS and Vanessa Baird, (husband, Jacob), Baxter Springs, KS; one brother, Dennis Andrews (wife, Julia), Galena, KS; one sister, Belinda Brumfield (husband, Jim) Pittsburg, KS; and 8 grandchildren, Kaylie, Jack, Trinity, Kadin, Logan, Gage, Harrison, and Isabella. He had numerous nieces and nephews.

He was entrusted to Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS for cremation.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS> Mary McWethy will deliver the eulogy.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 1:00 pm until the service time.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans (DAV) in care of the funeral home.
