Maxine Davies

Maxine (Carlson) Davies, age 85, of Webb City, MO passed away on September 6, 2017 at Cox Health Hospital in Springfield, MO. 

 Maxine was born May 22, 1932 near Miller, MO to the late Lee and Hazel Hood. She was a graduate of Carl Junction High School in 1949 and graduated from MSC in 1969 with a BS in Elementary Education and from PSU in 1983 with a Specialist Degree in Education. She was employed by the Webb City School District for thirty years. 

She married Robert (Bob) Carlson on August 14, 1949. They raised three children. Maxine was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. After Bob’s death in November 1996 she married Marion Davies in May, 2007 (he survives). Maxine moved to the Carl Junction area with her parents Lee & Hazel Hood in 1944. Maxine and Bob lived on a farm north of Carl Junction for 47 years. In 1997, Maxine moved to Webb City. Maxine taught 4th, 5th, & 6th grades and was later a principal in the Webb City School District. She had the honor of being the first Principal of the new Harry S Truman Elementary School. After retiring she was associated with NAEP (National Report Card Program). She worked with her husband farming for 20 years before she began her teaching career. She was a member of the New Hope Methodist Church for many years and was currently a member of North Main Street Baptist Church. She was also an active member of the MO Retired Teacher Association, a former member of the Jasper Eagle Square Dance Club and leader of the Twin Groves 4-H club for 24 years, working locally and on the county level. 

 Additional survivors include sons Max Carlson (Thelma) Elkland, MO, Tom Carlson (Linda) Keller, TX, and daughter Marsha Jensen (Tom) Joplin. Six grandchildren Kristi Rodriquez of Grand Prairie, TX, Whitney Weston (Dan) Carl Junction, Alex Carlson, Denver CO, Andi Carlson, Ft. Worth, TX, Jessica Serio (Chris) Fayetteville, AR and Miles Jensen, Joplin. She had one step-son, Mike Davies (Sherry), and one step-grandson all of Galena, KS. 

 Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 11, 2017 at 10:00 AM in the chapel of Simpson Funeral Home in Webb City. A visitation will be held on Sunday from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in Carl Junction Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts are suggested to be made to Carl Junction Alumni Association for a scholarship fund or the North Main Street Baptist Church in care of the funeral home.
