Lahunta June Bateman, age 83, of Verona, Missouri, formerly of Wheaton, Missouri passed away Thursday, September 21, 2017 at Mercy Hospital in Aurora, Missouri.
She was born November 12, 1933 the daughter of Clarence and Cora (Preddy) Saunders. She was united in marriage to J.D. Bateman, who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were her parents; one daughter, Pat Pointer; one son, Jim Bateman; three brothers and one sister.
Surviving are three sons, Mike Bateman and his wife Brenda of Cassville, Missouri, Steve Bateman of Cassville, Missouri and Bob Bateman of Verona, Missouri; one daughter, Sheila Hughes of Stark City, Missouri; three brothers, Charles Saunders of Cassville, Missouri, Johnny Saunders of Washburn, Missouri and Verdayne Saunders of Republic, Missouri; one sister, Norma Hayward of Cassville, Missouri; fifteen grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
June spent most of her life in Barry County and received her education at Mineral Springs. She had been employed at the shoe factory, Vase-Bristol On Line and also was a nursing home cook. She attended Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in Verona.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, September 25, 2017 at Muncie Chapel Cemetery in Wheaton under direction of McQueen Funeral Home in Wheaton. Pastor Scott Mitchell will conduct the services.
The family will receive friends from 9:00 until 10:30 A.M. Monday at McQueen Funeral Home in Wheaton.
