Barbara Burgess

Barbara Ann Burgess, age 80, resident of Webb City, Mo., passed away on November 13, 2017, at her home, following an illness.

Barbara was born on April 19, 1937 in Menfro, Mo., the daughter of the late Archie and Lillian (Immell) McKnight. She married Wayne Burgess on May 5, 1957 in Waverly, Mo. and together they raised four children. She and her husband owned and operated Burgess and Associates Insurance agency for many years. Barbara was very active in her Church Glendale Christian Church in Springfield.

She is survived by her husband of sixty years; Wayne Burgess of Webb City, Mo.; three daughters, Lori Marsh and her husband Jeff of Shawnee, Ks., Pam Rugeley and her husband John of Austin, Tx., Amy Whisman and her husband Kevin of Joplin, Mo., a son, Todd Burgess of Joplin, Mo. and Stephanie Burgess of Webb City, Mo., two sisters: Marilyn Mays and her husband Roy of Pineville, La., Sandra Hathcote of Baton Rouge, La., a brother James McKnight and his wife Lauren of DeRidder, La. Eleven grandchildren, Christopher Knight and his wife Jennifer, Chelsea Evans and her husband Kyle, Ashlee Ifland and her husband Taylor, Amee Meredith and her husband Blake, Tyler Burgess and his wife Kortlynn, Mikaela Burgess, Tate Whisman, Jake Rugeley, Jess Rugeley, Toby Whisman and Adelyn Whisman. Seven great-grandchildren, Savannah Knight, Memphis Knight, Gage Knight, Carter Harrell, Josie Meredith, Nora Meredith and Graham Ifland.
Funeral services will be Thursday evening at 6:30 p.m. at Christ Church of Oronogo Student Ministry Center North. Pastor Sid Allsbury and Pastor Troy Powell will officiate. Entombment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery at a later date.

The visitation will proceed the service from 4:30 p.m. to service time at the Church.

The family requests contributions be given to the Greater Missouri Chapter Alzheimer’s Association in care of the Mortuary.
