Jimmy Edward Dodd, age 66, Joplin, passed away on Thursday, November 16, 2017 in Joplin after a lengthy illness
Jimmy was born December 13, 1950 in Joplin, son of the late Dorothy Petty Dodd and William Dodd of Carthage, Missouri. Jimmy graduated from Joplin High School, and then served his country during Vietnam in the United States Army. He returned to Joplin for a while before moving to Springfield, Missouri where he worked in maintenance for local hotels, and later for a trucking firm. He returned to Joplin due to health reasons.
In addition to his mother, Jimmy was preceded in death by a brother, George "Pete" Dodd.
Survivors include his father, William "Bill" Dodd and wife Cheryl of Carthage; brother, Bobby Dodd; sisters, Billie Dodd Davis and Barbara Gilbreath; several nieces and nephews and a good friend, Ralph Esterline.
Graveside services will be Monday, November 27, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield with full military honors.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
