Mrs. Dorothy Faye Evelyn Archer, 97, of Sarcoxie, Missouri departed this life on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Dorothy entered this life on September 21, 1920 in Wentworth, Missouri to the union of the late Frank and Ida Mae (Zuck) McDonald.
She was a graduate of Pierce City High School. After high school she moved to California for a while working in several factories, being known as “Rosie the Riveter” during World War II, producing munitions and war supplies. She was a lifelong resident of Sarcoxie, Missouri. For several years she owned and operated K & K Restaurant in Sarcoxie, and also worked for other area restaurants. Dorothy enjoyed crafts, dancing and cooking. She was a member of Sarcoxie United Methodist Church.
On April 16, 1947 she was united in marriage to Wallace Dee Archer and to this union three daughters were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wallace of sixty-four years; two brothers, Roy and Harley McDonald and eight sisters, Olie Hasselbring, Edna Kahl, Katherine Schell, Rosella Pilcher, Ethel Schell, Pauline Boswell, Virginia McDonald and Marie Maynard.
Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Sandra Kay Lambeth and husband, Dale, of Sarcoxie, Missouri, Debra Ann Cupp and husband, Daniel, of Carthage, Missouri and Karen Sue Campos of Rio Rancho, New Mexico; four grandchildren, Kevin Lambeth of Sarcoxie, Missouri, Klista Bacon and husband, Lance, of Carterville, Missouri, Gavin Cupp and Caleb Cupp of Springfield, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. Archer are 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 29, 2017 in the chapel of Housh-Goodwin Funeral Home with Pastor James Yost officiating. Burial will follow in Harvey Cemetery. Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers are Kevin Lambeth, Klista Bacon, Lance Bacon, Gavin Cupp, Caleb Cupp, Cody Walker and Jeff Archer. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening, November 28, 2017 from 7-9:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
