Bill Kenney

Bill J. Kenney, 90, of Purdy, MO, passed away on Wednesday morning, November 22, 2017, while at his home.

Bill was born on May 27, 1927, in McDonald County, son of Harmon and Noveta (Cloud) Kenney. Bill attended schools in McDonald County and graduated from Monett High School with the Class of 1945 and later graduated from Drury College in 1964.

Bill served his country in the Merchant Marines for two years and the Air Force for four years. Bill worked for over forty years for Jumping Jacks Shoes, retiring in 1990. Over the years, Bill served on the Sheltered Workshop Board, delivered meals for the Loaves and Fishes, and raised cattle on his farm in Purdy. Bill enjoyed visiting with friends over coffee every morning in Purdy and Monett. He loved trout fishing with his brother and cousins at Roaring River State Park. He was a faithful servant of the Lord and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Purdy.

On June 11, 1948 in Springfield, MO, Bill Kenney and Betty Nickle were united in marriage. To this union, two children were born. Bill and Betty were blessed with over sixty-six years of wonderful memories.

Survivors include one son, Mike Kenney, and wife Kim, of Cassville, MO; one daughter, Melody Paige, and husband, Tim, of Cape Fair, MO; one brother, JR Kenney of Republic, MO; two sisters, Twyla McSpadden of Wagoner, OK; Thelma Hutcheson, and husband, Dave, of Boone, NC; five grandchildren, Darren Kenney, and wife Cassie, of Webb City, MO, Carmen Hill, and husband Travis, of St. Charles, MO, Carmen Stehlik and husband Brice, of Cassville, Cindy Wilson and husband Luke, of Cassville and Charla Miles, of Webb City, MO; and eight great-grandchildren, Wesley, Jacob, Avery, Sophia, Rylan, Kaden, MaKenna and Rayleigh.

Graveside services for Mr. Kenney will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Butterfield. Reverend Tony Martin will officiate. Visitation will be held from noon until 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in care of the funeral home. 

Arrangements are under the direction of Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett, MO.
