Howard Shelton

Howard Glen Shelton, 94 of Carthage, MO. went home to be with his Heavenly Father on November 23, 2017. Glen passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family. 

Glen was born on January 12, 1923 in Avilla, MO. to Henry and Rose (Ummel) Shelton. Glen graduated from Sarcoxie High School in 1941. 

He married Ardis Gloe Zent on December 18, 1943 in Girard, Kansas. Glen and Ardis shared nearly 74 years of marriage together. Glen retired from work at the Missouri Veterans Hospital. He was a member of the Avilla United Methodist Church and was currently attending the First Christian Church of Carthage. 

Glen is survived by three children, Howard (Marsha) Shelton of Wichita, Kansas, Glenda (Jim) Irwin of Carthage, MO., and Darrel (Patty) Shelton also of Carthage, MO.. He was the proud grandfather of four grandchildren, Terry (Sonia) Shelton of Memphis, Tennessee, Timmy Shelton of Wichita, Kansas, Candi (Ed) Bright, and Amber (James) Kinder both of Carthage, MO.. Glen was equally proud of his nine great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ardis, a grandson, Wayne Shelton, three brothers, and three sisters.

Graveside services will be Monday, November 27, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Avilla Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice Compassus.
