Darril Haynes

Darril Zan Haynes, age 77, of Fairview, Missouri, passed away Sunday, November 12, 2017 at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.

He was born September 7, 1940 in Stella, Missouri the son of Argyle Z. and Geneva (Smith) Haynes. On March 3, 1966 he was united in marriage to Esther Roller, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Terri Priest and her husband Melvin of Wheaton, Missouri and Sheri Moore and her husband David of Rocky Comfort, Missouri; one son, Bobby Harris and his wife Joleta of Neosho, Missouri; three brothers, Melvin Haynes and his wife Betty and Wesley Haynes and his wife Carolyn all of Wheaton, Missouri and Gary Haynes and his wife Melissa of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; four sisters, Carolyn Brattin and her husband Charlie and Veva Lee and her husband Bill all of Cassville, Missouri, Freida Kite and her husband Bud of Carthage, Missouri and Wylene Clouse of Springfield, Missouri; two sisters-in-law, Joan Haynes of Fairview, Missouri and Edna Haynes of Monett, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Michael, Charley, Issy, Sean and his wife Kayla, Rusty and his wife Alicia, Trey and his wife Haley and Dalton and three great grandchildren, Jack, Mesa and Casen.

Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers, Bill and Claude Haynes; one sister, Joyce Akin and two brothers-in-law, Robert Clouse and Sonny Akin.

Darril received his education at Wheaton, graduating from high school in 1959. Throughout school he enjoyed playing basketball and qualified with his team to go to state. After school he continued his love for basketball by refereeing for twenty-seven years. He was a member of Wheaton First Baptist Church and Wheaton Saddle Club. For several years he was employed at Eagle Picher and had also worked at Wheaton MFA and Wheaton Lumberyard. He farmed his entire life and thoroughly enjoyed his cattle and his running hounds. He was a member of Thomas Hollow Fox and Wolf Hunters Association and had coached many summer softball league teams.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at Rocky Comfort Cemetery in Rocky Comfort under direction of McQueen Funeral Home in Wheaton, Missouri. Pastor Kenneth Carney will conduct the services.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday at McQueen Funeral Home in Wheaton.

Contributions may be made to Rocky Comfort Cemetery in memory of Darril.
