Norma “Gayle” Russell, age 80, of Jenkins, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at her home.
She was born March 16, 1937 in Stone County near James River the daughter of William Earl and Ella (Gore) Dotson. On May 31, 1956 in Cassville, Missouri she was united in marriage to Doyle Russell, who survives. Also surviving are four daughters, Jeannie Lester of Monett, Missouri, Jeanette Doty and her husband Rick of Monett, Missouri, Mary Griffis and her husband Calvin of Cassville, Missouri and Marie Wattman of Pineville, Missouri; one son, Danny Russell and his wife Brenda of Cassville, Missouri; one sister, Janice Crow of Aurora, Missouri; two brothers, Jule Dotson of Marionville, Missouri and Howard Dotson of Billings, Missouri; twelve grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents and one brother.
Gayle received her education at Reeds Spring, Missouri, where she graduated from high school. She served as a pastor’s wife while raising their children and serving the Lord. She and Doyle supported the Navajo Indian Mission in Old Mexico and Arizona. She was a member of Community Faith Church, where she and Doyle pastored for thirty-five years. She taught children Sunday School for many years. Gayle and Doyle were also missionary senior pastors of the church in the Philippines.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, November 11, 2017 at Community Faith Church in Cassville, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Pastor Jimmie Copley, Pastor Rick Cooper and Pastor Donnie Spears will conduct the services. Burial will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Cassville.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. Friday at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.
Contributions may be made to Missionary Church in the Philippines in memory of Gayle.
