Phillip Lowell Newman, age 58, Joplin, passed away at 12:17 p.m. Thursday, November 23, 2017 at his home after a sudden illness.
Phillip was born October 5, 1959 in Joplin, Missouri to Mary Green Newman and the late Kenneth Newman, Sr. and had lived in Joplin all of his life.
Phillip had worked for Motorola, Inc. for several years. He was a 1977 graduate of the former Memorial High School where he played football. Phillip was an avid sports fan and loved to visit with people. He will be missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his father, Phillip was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda and four brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his mother, Mary, Joplin; daughter, Andrea Newman, Springfield; one brother, Lee Newman, Corona, Kansas; two sisters, Marian Woolsey, Oronogo, Gay Lynn Newman, Joplin; and a grandson, Laken Newman.
Graveside services are planned for Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
