Larry Davenport

Larry D. Davenport, 85, Carthage, MO, passed away Thursday evening, November 9, 2017 at his home after a lengthy illness. Larry Duane Davenport was born November 2, 1932 in Ava, MO to Lewis Davenport and Maxine Davenport (Privett). He was a graduate of Neosho High School, Class of 1951. Larry married Noline Marie Goddard on December 25, 1954, she preceded him in death on February 20, 2016. He retired from the Air Force in 1972 after 20 years of service. He served in Vietnam and was awarded the distinguished flying cross. After retirement from the Air Force he worked the next 23 years for Tri-State Motor Transit. Larry was an active member of the First Christian Church and helped in the Hospital Equipment Ministry.

Survivors include, one daughter, Cassy Nuse, Carthage; one son, Steven Davenport, Carthage; one sister, Glenda Tupling, Wenatchee, WA; one brother, Allen Rippee, Yakima, WA; five grandchildren, Abby (husband Jeremiah) Reeve, Kiefer Nuse, Madison Peddy, DeeDee Davenport, Darren Davenport; one great-grandchild, Christopher; two step-grandchildren, Zachary Nuse, Kristina (husband Gary) Fohrenck; and four step-great-grandchildren, Tyler, Lacey, Lexy, and Ally.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one daughter, Cristy Lynn Peddy, two sisters, Jewell Egley, Patricia Rippee, and one brother, Allen Rippee.

Visitation will be 6-7:00 p.m., Monday, November 13, 2017 at Knell Mortuary. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at Knell Mortuary. Rev. Gordon Souder will officiate. Interment will follow in Park Cemetery. Memorial gifts are suggested to the Hospital Equipment Ministry – First Christian Church in care of Knell Mortuary, 308 W. Chestnut, Carthage, MO 64836.
