Helen Hildebrand

Helen M. Hildebrand was born February 4, 1930 in Kiowa, Kansas, the daughter of Robert T. and Helen (Morris) Ishmael. She entered into rest, following a one month illness on January 2, 2018 at the age of 87. 

 Helen lived in Stark City and moved to Neosho in 1983 and then moved to Joplin in 2004. She had worked as a teacher's aide and bus driver for the State School for the Handicapped, 1962-1992. Helen was a founding member of the Neosho Chapter of the Bosom Buddies; she was active with the Newton County Chapter of the American Cancer Society, Relay for Life; Newcomer's Club; Freeman Auxiliary; Joplin Chapter of the DAR; a former 4-H Leader and enjoyed playing games, traveling and being with her family. She was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Joplin and was active in her church. 

 Helen married Robert 'Bob' Hildebrand on Nov. 26, 1949 in Kiowa, Kansas and he preceded her in death on January 7, 2004. She is survived by two daughters, Laurie Delano and husband, Gene of Joplin and Becky Armstrong and husband, Randy of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Mandy Armstrong of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Lance Armstrong and wife, Lauren of Woodbridge, Virginia and two great grandchildren, Tiberius and Gideon. In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Ishmael, Jr. and Sam Ishmael.

Memorial Service


Saturday January 6, 2018, 1:00 PM
Fellowship Baptist Church
The family will receive friends following the memorial service until 3 pm at the church.
