Leon Littleton, 88, of Seneca, MO., passed on January 8, 2018 at his home surrounded by family, his beloved wife Jean and faithful dog, Ranger.
Leon was a kind and gentle man who was loved by all animals and children who came in contact with him. Leon was born October 27, 1929 in Crisp, Texas to Edwin Forrest Littleton and Minnie Mae Ensor. He graduated from Lubbock High School in 1947 and attended the Merchant Marine Academy in New York from 1948 – 1949. From 1950 – 1953 he served in the U.S. Army and trained at Camp Chafee, Arkansas and Officer Candidate School at Fort Sill, OK. Leon held the positions of First Lieutenant, Intelligence Officer and Field Artillery Officer. He graduated from Texas Tech University in 1955 with a B.A in Business. Leon worked at Coastal States and Diamond Shamrock where he was Vice President of Fuels and Feedstocks.
Leon met Barbara Sue Schulz at Pure Oil Company in Tulsa, OK. They married in 1956 and had five children, Greg Littleton of Tulsa, OK, Susan Littleton of Austin, TX, Phil Littleton of Eugene, OR, Paul Littleton of Gig Harbor, WA and Meg Littleton of Highlands, NC. Leon and Barbara raised their children in Corpus Christi, TX and Amarillo, TX before retiring to their cherished farm in Seneca, MO in 1990, where they resided blissfully with their many dogs, cats, horses, chickens and sheep until Barbara’s passing in 2003.
On September 5, 2005, Leon married Jean Kelley and they enjoyed twelve wonderful years together. Jean was thoughtful, caring and supportive of Leon and brought much happiness to his life. Leon is survived by Jean, all five children and their spouses, eight grandchildren, four step grandchildren and one step great-granddaughter.
Visitation will be held 6pm – 7pm., Thursday, January 11, and Funeral Services will be 1pm, Friday, January 12, both at Clark Funeral Home in Neosho. Following services, interment will be at Neosho IOOF Cemetery.
