Alice Walker Slimp, age 76, Quapaw, Oklahoma, passed away at 7:00 a.m. Sunday, November 4, 2018 at Communities of Wildwood Ranch.
Alice was born June 28, 1942 in Okemah, Oklahoma to the late Doss Allen Walker and Lucille Stringfellow Walker and had lived in the Joplin area most of her life.
She worked as a seamstress at Miller Manufacturing; a punch press operator at LaBarge, Inc.; and worked 25 years as an unloader for the Fiberex Division of Eagle Picher.
She married Avery Lee Slimp in 1961 at Okemah, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death in October of 1988.
Alice was also preceded in death by three sons, Doss Allen Slimp, Stephen Avery Slimp, Norman Slimp; and siblings, Mae Green and Floyd Walker.
Survivors include a son, Raymond Slimp and wife, Pamela, Quapaw, Oklahoma; a daughter, Aneida Slimp and husband, Homer Brown, Galena; sisters, Virginia Fowler, Arkansas, Helen Boston, Oklahoma, Nancy Green, Florida, Velma Buie, Oklahoma; a brother, Roy Walker, Oklahoma; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren and many extended family members and friends.
A memorial visitation is planned for Saturday from 1-2:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
