Perry Whipple

Perry D. Whipple, Neosho, entered into rest on March 28, 2019 at the age of 96.

 Perry was born Feb. 18, 1923 in Kanorado, Kansas, one of five children born to Dallas D. and Alma (Juhl) Whipple. Following his graduation from high school, he attended Northeastern Oklahoma A & M College and furthered his education through many hours of company sponsored training courses. Perry worked as a mechanical engineer for Rockwell International in Tulsa and Neosho, and previously worked as a machinist for Vickers Inc. in Joplin. He was a 32nd degree Mason, being a member of the Masonic Lodge of Tulsa and Scottish Rite of Tulsa, and was a member of the Newton County Mounted Sheriff’s Posse for many years. Perry was instrumental in getting the rodeo grounds in Neosho; was a Red Cross volunteer and blood donor; was a 4H leader; and an avid square dancer.

Perry and Irene (Schlepp) Whipple were married Jan. 11, 1942 in Kansas; she preceded him in death on Oct. 19, 2011. He is survived by three children, Donald D Whipple and wife, Karen of Baldwin, KS, Lindell J. Hughes and husband, Gerald of Neosho, MO, and Kathryn Sansom and husband, Ray of Sanford, AZ; one brother, Delvin L. Whipple of South Dakota (who is 101 years young); eight grandchildren, Terri Hamby, Gina Riddle, Brian Whipple, Steve Whipple, Dallas Hughes, Darla Farley, Kim Greiner, and Scott Sansom; and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. 

In addition to his wife, Perry was preceded in death by an infant son, Freddie Elton Whipple, a sister, Edith Gorlinsky, and two brothers, Art Whipple and Phillip Whipple.








Services will be 10 am, Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at Clark Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, Neosho, MO, with Rev. Mitch Jarvis and Michael Helms officiating. Visitation will precede Tuesday services from 9 am until service time. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Neosho following services.
