Raymond Baker, age 66 of Joplin, passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at Joplin Health and Rehab. Mr. Baker, son of the late William “Clark” and Mabel (Smith) Baker, was born on January 19, 1953 in Joplin. Raymond was a lifelong area resident.
After graduating high school, he worked for Joplin Workshops, was a handy man around town and attended First Gospel Workers Church in Joplin. He enjoyed riding his bike around town, going to various flea markets, and “junking.” He will be remembered by his family as a great storyteller and miss his personality that could light up a room.
Survivors include two brothers, Reverend Randy Baker, of Joplin, and Billy Masters, of Kansas City; six nephews; and one niece. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Topper and Joyce Monteer.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at 11:00 am at Mason-Woodard Mortuary in Joplin with Pastor Rocky Millsap officiating. Burial will follow at the Fairview Cemetery in Joplin. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 am on Thursday until service time at the mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to the Faith Holiness Church of Joplin and may be entrusted to the mortuary.
