Stevie Dean “Steve” Grider, of Greenfield, MO, departed this life on Friday, March 22, 2019, at the Good Shepherd Community Care and Rehabilitation Facility in Lockwood, MO at the age 65 years.
He was born on January 15, 1954 in Arcola, MO to Howard B. and Vernice B. (Fleeman) Grider. Steve was united in marriage to Martha Jean Spencer on December 22, 1975. They had two daughters, Nikki and Lavada. Steve and Martha also were loving foster parents to many children. He also mentored other children as youth Mighty Mite Football Coach.
Steve proudly served for the Greenfield R-IV Rural Fire Department. He worked many years as a dispatcher for the Dade County Sheriff’s Department. Steve had also worked for O’Sullivan Industries in Lamar. He was an avid softball player. Steve loved country music, and had a passion for being a D.J.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Howard Grider and Vernice Grider Henry; two brothers, Wayne Grider and Bobby Grider; and three sisters, Sharron Hargis, Evelyn Bryant, and Mary Carpenter.
Survivors include two daughters, Nikki Grider of El Dorado Springs, MO and Lavada Lewis of Lamar, MO; five grandchildren, Alex Grider of Stockton, MO, Shea Lewis of Lamar, MO, Dava Lewis of Lamar, Mo, Blain Lewis of Lamar, MO, and Kylee Lewis of Lamar, MO; one great-grandchild, Hayden Greathouse of Stockton, MO; numerous foster children; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 30, 2019, in Greenfield Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Vaughn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family to help toward funeral expenses. Online condolences may be shared at www.greenfieldfuneralchapel.com.
