Jim Cox

James G. “Jim” Cox, age 75 of Oronogo, Mo. passed away early Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Mo.

Jim was born on January 2, 1944 in San Francisco, Ca. the son of Edward and Gertrude (Phillips) Cox. He has been a long-time area resident, Jim worked as a welder for Cardinal Scale for 52 years before retiring in 2017. He was an avid fisherman and Kansas City Chiefs fan.

He married Bobbie Collings on March 7, 1966, she survives. Additional survivors include a son; Jason Cox of Oronogo, a daughter; Rebecca Cox of Joplin, two brothers, four sisters, a sister-in-law; Sandra Lowe, five grandchildren; Orien Cox, Mason Cox, Taylor Helton, Peyton Helton and Tristen “Shorty” Bullard, and many nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Gordon and Robert Cox.








Services have been scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 22, 2019 at the Mason-Woodard Chapel. Entombment will follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends during a time of visitation prior to the service beginning at 1:00 p.m. Monday.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society in care of the mortuary.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.
