Phillip Parks

Philip M. Parks, age 70, of Joplin, passed away on Sunday at his home surrounded by his family, following a courageous battle with ALS.

Phil was born on December 24, 1948 in Corpus Christi, Tx., the son of the late Raymond and Wilma (Michalkowsky) Parks. He graduated from Central Missouri State University with Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration. He worked for Farmers Insurance as an underwriter and loss control, retiring in 2016. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, driving their corvette, and fishing.

He married Linda Bird on December 20, 1975 in Odessa, Mo., and she survives.








Additional survivors include; one daughter, Jessi McDowell and husband Pete, Olathe, Ks.; one brother, Miles Parks and wife Mary, Joplin; one sister, Janet Black and husband Terry, Blue Springs, Mo.

Phil will be cremated with a Celebration of Life Service to be held on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Fox Funeral Home in Cold Camp, Mo. and interment will be at Memorial Cemetery in Cole Camp, Mo.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to ALS Association or the Area Agency on Aging in care of the mortuary.

Arrangements are under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.
