Mabel Bruens, 98, of Bethpage, Missouri passed away on Friday, April 5, 2019 at her residence with her loving family by her side.
Mabel was born on August 31, 1920 in Wilmerding, Pennsylvania to the late, Charles and Mabel (Place) Anderson. She had lived in the Bethpage Community since 1948. Mabel worked 10 years in Civil Service in the Chicago and Minnesota area. She has been a member of the Gideon's International since 1972. Mabel married Walter Bruens on November 9, 1945 in Parker, Arizona and to this union a daughter was born. She was a faithful member of the Living Word Mission Church in Simco, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter; a daughter, Norma Jean Brimer; a brother, Charles Anderson and a sister, Evelyn M. Clemens.
Mabel is survived by her two granddaughters, Anita Simpson and husband, Torrance "Torry" Simpson of Parker, Arizona, Cora Huckeba and husband, John Huckeba, Sr. of Bethpage, Missouri; seven grandchildren; 14 great great grandchildren and two great great great grandchildren; along with a host of other relatives and friends who will dearly miss Mabel. She loved much and was much loved and her legacy of Christ centered love will live on.
Final resting place will be in the Desert Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Calimesa, California. Memorial contributions may be given to Gideon's International in loving memory of Mabel. Her family would like to send a special thank you to Integrity Hospice for their wonderful and loving care.
Mabel requested no funeral services because "If someone couldn't come visit while I'm alive, they don't need to see an old woman in a coffin."
