(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)Carolyn Kay Klink, age 78 of Joplin, MO. passed away early Friday, December 25, 2020 at Westgate at Wildwood Ranch.
Kay was born on November 10, 1942 in Hockerville, OK., the daughter of James and Dora (Carver) Farris. She has been a longtime area resident. Kay graduated from Quapaw, OK. High School and was Salutatorian of her class.
Kay then graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from Missouri Southern State College where she was a member of the Alpha Kappa Delta Honor Society. She went to work as a Social Worker for the Department of Family Services for many years before retiring in 2003. Kay then volunteered at St. John’s Hospital and later at Freeman Hospital in the Heart Institute. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Joplin.
In her spare time, Kay, enjoyed taking walks, reading, sewing and caring for her two dogs “Sophie” and “Pharaoh." She loved to go shopping with her sister, Teresa. Kay loved “Friday Night Football” from the time her two sons played together in High School which she always said was the most exciting time of her life to watching her oldest son coach High School football in the local area. Kay really loved spending time with her family and church family as well. Kay also held a special place in her heart for her Grandson Chase from the day God blessed her family with him.
She married Robert “Darrell” Klink on June 29, 2000, he preceded her in death on September 7, 2011. Kay was also preceded in death by her parents and by a grandson, Zachary Klink.
Survivors include three sons; Doug Buckmaster and wife Teresa of Carl Junction, MO., Mark Buckmaster and wife Susan of Claremore, OK., Kevin Klink and wife Tracy of Joplin, a daughter; Cathy Willis of Joplin, two sisters; Teresa Kelly and husband Bob of Quapaw, OK., Darlene Bryan of Webb City, MO., one brother; Bruce Farris and wife Judy of Joplin, seven grandchildren; Chase Buckmaster, Matt Fitch, Kanisha Richardson and her husband Jacob, Stephen Klink and wife Ashton, Joseph Klink, Austin Klink and Makayla Klink, and three great-grandchildren; Alex Richardson, Anni Richardson and Andrew Richardson.
Funeral services have been scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at the First Baptist Church in Joplin. The family will receive friends during a time of visitation prior to the start of the service beginning at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.
