Rob Roberson

Robert A. Roberson, age 88, died December 27, 2020, at his home in Joplin, of natural causes.

He was born on February 8, 1932 in Los Angeles, California, to Alfred and Vermell Roberson. He graduated from high school in Willow Springs, Missouri, in 1950, and enlisted in the US Air Force at the outbreak of the Korean Conflict. 


 After basic training, he was sent to Wiesbaden, Germany, and received his A&P Mechanics ticket, crewing a B-17. His next tour of duty took him to Newfoundland, and after training and serving on C-54’s and C-124’s, he was promoted to Flight Engineer and went to Travis Air Force Base in California where he was a Flight Engineer on C-141 (Starlifters). He amassed over 10,000 hours flying time in his Air Force career, retiring as a Master Sergeant (E7). 








After retirement, he moved back to Missouri and worked 20 years for Missouri Highway and Transportation, several years of which he served in Kansas City.

Rob married Linda (Scott) Hicks on June 17, 1976, and she survives. Additional survivors include a step-son, Bob (Susie) Hicks, and step-grandchildren he treated as his own: Katie (Derek) Norton; Jordan (David) Crawford; Seth (Emma) Hicks; Surviving also a son, Raymond Roberson (Renea); and grandsons, Michael (April), Joe (Rachel) Roberson; Jacob (Haley) Roberson; daughter Becky (Randy) Wagner and grandchildren Travis (Mandy) Wagner; Miranda (Caleb) Browning; Amy Scott; daughter Renee Roberson; and 15 great grandchildren. Also surviving brother Keith (Patricia) Roberson.

He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews he loved dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson Nathaniel Hicks, and a daughter Virginia Sweet.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Burial will take place at Arlington.
