Kenny Drake

Kenneth Dean Drake, 75, of Southwest City, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, December 23, 2020, after a courageous battle with illness and cancer, at Freeman West Hospital, in Joplin, Missouri.

Kenny entered this life on November 27, 1945, to the late Mark and Edith (Hubbard) Drake, in Southwest City, Missouri. 

In his younger years, Kenny joined and served his country in the United States Army and National Guard. He later became the owner and operator of Drakes Service Station and Propane Package Store. Kenny was a member of the Calvary Cowboy Church in Southwest City, Missouri.








Many will remember and miss Kenny for his ornery personality. He had many hobbies including, fishing, driving around back-country roads, visiting with his friends, checking on his cows, spending time with his grandchildren, attending auctions, and visiting garage sales.

Kenny is preceded in death by his parents, Mark and Edith (Hubbard) Drake; his siblings, Buck Drake, CJ Drake, Eugene Drake, Lloyd Drake, Ruby Wetzel, Pat Gates, Anna Laura Cable, and Corene Cooper.

He is survived by his daughter, Mindy Drake (Chad); three step-daughters, Doris, Debbie, and Melvia; three grandchildren, Allie, Roper, and Tate; 16 step-grandchildren; his sister, Barbara Bratton (Omar) of Jay, Oklahoma; his brother, Doug Drake, of Jay, Oklahoma. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and a host of other family and friends who will dearly miss him.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., on Wednesday, December 30, 2020, at the Calvary Cowboy Church in Southwest City, Missouri, with a graveside service following, at the Southwest City Cemetery, in Southwest City, Missouri. Pastors Bob Easter and Benny Lukens will be officiating. 

Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers are Tate O'Brien, Roper O'Brien, Gage Freeman, Chad Freeman, Keith Bratton, and Blaine Bishop.
