(From Parker Mortuary)Robert Dale Barker, age 72, Empire, Kansas, passed away on Sunday, December 20, 2020 at his home with family at his side.
Robert was born October 7, 1948 in Joplin, son of the late Lawrence Barker and Hildreth Haverfield Barker. He grew up in Empire, and graduated from Galena High School before attending Missouri Southern State College.
He worked several jobs over the years from construction to working for years with Hormel Foods. He grew up in the Pentecostal Faith, and most recently was attending Empire Mission Church.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his brother, Lawrence "Skip" Barker.
Survivors include his daughter, Shawna Barker, and son, Billy Barker and wife Lisa all of Galena; his sister, Barbara Link also of Galena; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his lifelong friends, Sam and Debra Charles of Joplin.
A graveside service with committal of his ashes will be later on the family plot in Oak Hill Cemetery, Galena, with a celebration of life to follow at the family home.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
