Barbara Burlison

Barbara Joan (Hensley) Burlison, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by family. She was born in Carthage, MO, and spent most of her life in and around Pasadena CA. 

She shared a life full of love, energy, and purpose. A longtime real estate investor and passionate antique collector, Barbara found joy in managing her properties and searching for hidden treasures. She delighted in playing cards, spending time with friends, and visiting her cherished desert homes.

A woman of deep Christian faith, Barbara was a devoted supporter of her church and a generous benefactor to Christian higher education. Her philanthropic gifts helped support scholarships and spiritual life programs at several Christian universities, leaving a lasting legacy that will impact generations of students. Her life reflected her commitment to service, stewardship, and sharing God’s blessings with others.

Barbara is preceded in death by her loving husband, Dr. Carlton L. Burlison, MD. and daughter, Carloyn Griffin. She is survived by her children, Dr. Linda Crawford and Dr. John Burlison with his wife, Terry; her grandchildren, Brittany Crawford, Lauren Janoska with her husband, Ian, Lindsay Burlison, Jack Griffin, and Emily Griffin; and her great-grandson, Mackenzie Janoska; other family, friends, and special caretakers, Helene Gaines, Geraldine Matthews, Jose and Berta Medina. She will be remembered with deep affection by her extended family, many friends, and all who were touched by her kindness, faith, and generous spirit.





A celebration of Barbara’s life will be held on Saturday, September 13, at 11:00 A.M. at Douglass & Zook Chapel, 600 E. Foothill Blvd., Monrovia, CA. In keeping with Barbara’s vibrant personality, attendees are encouraged to wear cheerful and bright attire.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial scholarship fund has been established in Carlton and Barbara Burlison’s name at Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego, CA (619) 849-2513, Donor Relations Department.
