Leroy Smith

Mr. Leroy Franklin Smith, 78, of Sarcoxie, Missouri, passed away at his home on Tuesday, July 22, 2025.

Leroy was born on Friday, June 20, 1947, in Carthage, Missouri to the union of the late Dale Leroy and Ruth Louis (Kisling) Smith. He was a 1965 graduate of Sarcoxie High School. 

On July 9, 1979, he was united in marriage to Treva Jean Crane, sharing forty-two years of wonderful memories until her passing on January 22, 2022. 








He worked for The Steadley Company in Carthage and later retired from Leggett and Platt. He was a very loyal and dedicated employee. He was also engaged in full time farming. He enjoyed sports and was an avid Kansas Chiefs and Oklahoma City Thunder fan. He enjoyed spending time with children, grandchildren, as well as other family and friends. He will truly be missed by all those who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dale Leroy and Ruth Louise (Kisling) Smith; wife Treva Jean (Crane) Smith; father and mother-in-law, Eugene and Sylvia (Holden) Crane; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Larry Crane and Kay Crane.

Leroy is survived by his children, Tamra Kell, of Webb City, Missouri and Jason Smith and wife, Katrina, of Owasso, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Brayden Smith, Carter Smith and Sophia Smith; siblings, Deloris Reynolds and husband, John of Carthage and Brenda Youngblood of Diamond; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Stan Crane and wife, Patty, of Webb City, Raymond Crane and wife, Sheila, of Webb City, Laura Roush of Joplin, Patricia Crane of Joplin, Sandy Miller of Joplin, Jimmy Crane and wife, Charlene, of Joplin, and Debbie Crane also of Joplin; many nieces and nephews; several cousins; as well as a host of other family and friends.








Graveside funeral services for Leroy are 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at the Sarcoxie Cemetery with Pastor Kenneth Filsinger officiating. Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers are Jason Smith, Martin Clark, Jimmy Carnes, Carter Smith, David Roush and Brad Crane.
