Deloris Bowen

(From Parker Mortuary)

Deloris Jo Bowen, age 83, of Joplin entered into the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, July 23, 2025. She peacefully passed at home surrounded by family.

Deloris was born on December 18, 1941 in Tyler, TX to the late union of Rafe and Mary (Hobbs) Hester. She graduated from High School in Izmir, Turkey where she was living while her stepfather was stationed in the Air Force.

While there, she met the love of her life, Ronald “Ronnie” Bowen, while he was stationed in the Army. They enjoyed going the movies, snack bar on base, and exploring Turkey and Greece. They were united in marriage, after returning to the states, on February 11, 1961 in Miami, OK.

Deloris and Ron did everything together; from dancing at The Cotillion Ball Room in Wichita, KS, going to the lake, spending time with family and worshipping our Lord Jesus Christ. Deloris and Ron were members of the Racine Christian Church for many years. Together they were blessed with each other’s company for 64 years before her passing. She loved cooking for her family, sewing in her spare time, and shopping. She was a devoted homemaker and the best MeMe to her grand and great-grandchildren. She worked for Sears and Roebuck as a sales clerk and catalog salesperson for many years, before retirement. Deloris’s life was a testament to her loving heart, caring nature, and selfless giving to others.

In addition to her parents, Deloris was preceded in death by her infant son, Randall Bowen; and brother, Steve Kersh.

Deloris is survived by her husband, Ronald Bowen; two children, Jo Lynne Sage (Todd) and Bo Bowen (Dani); six grandchildren, Jared Sage (Amanda), Kaitlyn Kelly (Taylor), Delaney Heun (Matthew), Jakob Forste (Lauren), Jordan Forste (Marlee), and MacKenszee Roberts; nine great-grandchildren; and one sister, Annie Loggains (Kenny).

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 28, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel with pastor John St. Clair officiating. There will be a time of visitation held from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the mortuary. Interment to follow at Osborne Memorial Cemetery with Bo Bowen, Todd Sage, Jared Sage, Jordan Forste, Matthew Heun and Todd Platner serving as pallbearers.

Funeral arrangements are under the special care and direction of Parker Mortuary.
