Clair Mitchell

Clair Edgar Mitchell, age 75, of Carthage, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2025 at Carthage Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Clair was born on March 12, 1950 in Marshalltown, IA to the late union of Merrill and Wilma (Flathers) Mitchell. He was raised in the Carl Junction area and was a 1967 graduate of Carl Junction High School. He married Norma Washburn on May 18, 1968 in Joplin, Missouri. Together they were blessed with 54 years of marriage before her passing on December 31, 2022. 

He worked primarily as an independent mechanic. Later on in life, he worked as a Welder Fabricator for Century Fireplace before eventually retiring. He spent most of his time off tinkering on cars in his garage, going to road races and then later going to dirt track races in Oklahoma with his wife, Norma, and son, Tim.

Clair is survived by his three sons, Mike Mitchell and wife, Michelle, Tim Mitchell and wife, Kathy, and Josh Mitchell and wife, Christi; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, July 25, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. in Parker Mortuary Chapel with pastor Robin Sigars officiating. There will be a time of visitation held from 4:00 p.m. until service time.
