(From Ulmer Funeral Home)Lenora Downing, 81, of Carthage Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Lenora was born on December 1, 1943, in The Dalles, Oregon, to Bill and Barbara Tidwell. She was a caregiver at St. John’s Hospital and at Royce Manor Nursing Home where she retired. She liked her work, but also enjoyed flower gardening, yard work, and watching and taking care of the birds by filling up her bird feeders.
Lenora is survived by her three sons, Ed Downing (Norma) of Avilla, Brett Downing (Lorie) of Joplin, and Ruben Downing (Vicki) of Alexander, Arkansas; three sisters, Joanna Haynes of Tennessee, Mary Goss (Carl) of Ava, Missouri, and Donna Reed of Miller; one brother-in-law Danny Douglas of Norwood, Missouri; grandchildren, Clarence Downing, Erin Downing, Tisha Lee, Brenna Hawkins, Kristie Zimmer, Melissa Salyer; numerous great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one grandson, Josh Boyd; two sisters, Susie Graham, and Myra “Skippy” Douglas; and one brother-in-law, Brick Reed.
There will be a memorial service for Lenora at 3:00 PM on Monday, July 28, 2025, at Ulmer Funeral Home in Carthage, Missouri. The visitation will be at 2:00 PM on Monday prior to the service at Ulmer Funeral Home.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Ulmer Funeral Home.
