Fayne Sneddon

Fayne Delma Sneddon, age 91 of Joplin, passed away at 6:25 p.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at Freeman West Hospital.

Born February 19, 1924 in Ransom, KS, she was the daughter of the late David and Lorena Harkness Amstutz and graduated from Ransom High School. She attended Fort Hays State College and was a legal secretary in her early life. She had lived in Joplin since 1966, moving from Parsons, KS. A homemaker, she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Fayne was a member of First United Methodist Church, the Tri-M Sunday School Class and Joplin Women's Club. She volunteered for Joplin Welcome Wagon. An avid bridge player, she belonged to several bridge clubs.

On November 10, 1945, she married Milton S. Sneddon in Tacoma, WA. He survives.

Additional survivors include a son, Steve Sneddon and wife Carol of Parsons, KS; two daughters, Janet Gorden and husband Phil of Mesquite, TX, Patricia McKinney and husband David of Sedalia, MO; four grandchildren, Jack Sneddon, Christine McKinney, Erin and Emily Gorden; two step grandchildren, Michelle Wichterman and husband Jim, Todd McKinney and wife Gina; three great-step grandchildren, Madison, Matthew and Lillian; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by six siblings; her twin sister, Fern Crossland, Vernon Amstutz, Fred Amstutz, Hazel Davis, Earl Amstutz and Max Amstutz.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Bruce Jacobs officiating. Entombment will follow in Ozark Memorial Park Mausoleum. Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church.
