Kenneth Wooldridge

Kenneth Leroy “Shorty” Wooldridge, 88. Of Sarcoxie, Missouri, departed this life on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at the Sarcoxie Nursing Center.

Kenneth entered this life of January 14, 1929 in Junction City, Kansas, son of the late William “Bill” and Kate (Rickner) Wooldridge. He was a lifelong resident of Sarcoxie, Missouri. He was united in marriage to Norma Jean Huff on September 19, 1949 and to this union two children were born. He proudly served in the United States Army, returning home in 1950. He retired from Eagle Picher, Joplin, Missouri in 1991. Kenneth was a member of New Beginnings Church of the Nazarene Church. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and working.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Norma; one son, Kenneth L. Wooldridge, Jr.; one great grandson, Jordan Ogle; three brothers, Jack, Allen and Tinker Wooldridge; one sister, Ellen Jones Shipman.

Kenneth is survived by his daughter, Stephanie Grimes and husband Terry, of Sarcoxie, Missouri; two granddaughters, Paula Higgins of , Arkansas and Kate Ogle of Sarcoxie, Missouri; great grandchildren, Kendrick Ogle and wife, Kendra Ogle of Army Base Hawaii, Cameron Reynolds of Sarcoxie, Missouri, Kelsy Cook and husband, Garrett, of Colorado, Tessa Ogle, Naval Base Japan, and Blake Ogle of Sarcoxie, Missouri; great- great grandson, Justin Ogle of Hawaii; as well as a host of other family and friends. The family will be at the home of Stephanie Grimes in Sarcoxie, Missouri.

Funeral services for Kenneth are 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 7, 2017, at Housh-Goodwin Funeral Home in Sarcoxie, Missouri, with Pastor Scott Stone officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in the Sarcoxie Cemetery. Those honoring his life by servicing as pallbearers are Larry Velten, Steve Velten, Ron Gilstrap, Robert Deonier, Dennis Bittick and Bill McNeece. In lieu of flowers memorials are being directed to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital c/o the funeral home.
