Richard Kinslow

(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)

Richard Frank Kinslow was born October 27, 1944 at Joplin, Missouri to Frank Clyde and Katie Geneva Phillips Kinslow. He passed away on Wednesday November 8, 2017.

Richard was a graduate of Goodman High School, Goodman, Missouri, in 1962. He represented his school at Boys State; Salutatorian, and as a member of the Goodman Babe Ruth championship team among other honors.

In the Navy, he graduated from Class 9 Communication School as the honor-man. He traveled the world both in and out of service to his country. Always time for sports: he represented the Navy at the European National Pool Tournament.

Later he worked in finance: consumer finance manager for finance companies and as business manager for hospitals. His skill with figures and people pulled many hospitals out of the red.

During his retirement he spent many days in the woods, fishing, enjoying his Louis L’Amour books, and spinning tales of yesteryear.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Connie. He later married Linda McFerron of Miami OK; she also preceded him in death.

Surviving is one sister, Carrol Sue (Susie) and her husband Rev. Russell Adams; one son, Nathan Andrew Kinslow; three stepsons, Monte McFerron, Neosho, Mo., Jerry W. McFerron and wife Carrie, Tyler, Tx., and Dale McFerron and wife Allison, Riverside, Ca.; and six grandchildren.

Surviving are many other family members and friends who will miss his great storytelling and Saturday night phone calls.

Comfort is found in some of his final words: “Sis, I want to go Home to be with my Lord, my wife, and our Mother. I am ready to go.”

A Memorial visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Mason-Woodard Mortuary.

Arrangements are under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.
