Doc Sanders

Herman E. 'Doc' Sanders, age 89, Joplin, passed away at 6:15 p.m. Monday, January 8, 2018 in Joplin.

Doc was born August 21, 1928 in rural Carthage, Missouri to the late Bethuel Zadoc Sanders and Sarah Elizabeth Smith Sanders and had lived in Joplin for several years, moving from Kansas City.

He was a heavy equipment operator most of his adult working life and was a member of Operating Engineers Local #101, Kansas City. Doc enjoyed golf and adding onto his house, even when it didn't need it. Doc was a member of Church of God-Seventh Day in Joplin.

Doc married Lucille Long on June 22, 1990 in Sarcoxie. She survives.

Additional survivors include two sons, Randy Sanders and wife, Marcia, Van Buren, Arkansas, Rodney Sanders and wife, Jane, Joplin; two daughters, Rhonda Snyder and husband, Wayne, Neck City, Ragena Snyder and husband, Duane, Neck City; three brothers, Clifford Sanders and wife, Bea, Independence, Missouri, Ronald Sanders, Little Rock, Arkansas, Alvin Sanders and wife, Liz, Blue Springs, Missouri; grandchildren, Jennifer Waggoner and husband, Joe, Sheba Cook and husband Randal, Matthew Sanders, Nikki Mayfield and husband, Kevin, Adam Sanders, April Brann and husband, Justin; six great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Doc was preceded in death by two grandchildlren, Cody Sanders and Brian Snyder; a brother, Wayne Sanders; and two sisters, Waneta Stewart and Aileen Franklin.

Services are planned for Friday at 10:00 a.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel. Dave Gartner will officiate. Interment will follow at Carl Junction Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Zach Snyder, Matthew Sanders, Adam Sanders, Randal Cook, Kevin Mayfield and Justin Brann. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6-7:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, in care of Parker Mortuary.

Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
