Wanda Harshberger

Wanda L. Harshberger, age 72, Kimberling City, passed away at 9:00 p.m. Saturday, January 6, 2018 at her home after an illness.

Wanda was born July 18, 1945 in Maryville, Missouri to the late Joe Birkenholz and Betty Bebout Birkenholz and had lived in Joplin for many years before moving to Kimberling City in 2012.

Wanda worked in the oncology department at Freeman Hospital for several years, retiring in 2011. She had formerly worked as a receptionist at the dentist offices of Dr. Crockett, Dr. McGinty and Dr. Thompson. She enjoyed collecting antiques and traveling. Wanda will be missed by all who knew her.

She married Jim Harshberger on November 3, 1965 in Clarinda, Iowa. He survives at the home.

Additional survivors include two sons, Doug Harshberger and wife, Jennifer, Nixa, Duke Harshberger and wife, Nickol, Nixa; and three grandchildren, Braxton Cochrum, Liberty Todd and Joey Todd.

In addition to her parents, Wanda was preceded in death by a brother, Larry.

Graveside services are planned for Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Hopkins Cemetery, Hopkins, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or to The American Cancer Society, both in care of Parker Mortuary.

Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
