James Ray Price, age 90 of Joplin, Mo. passed away on Friday, January 12, 2018 following an illness.
Jim was born on September 2, 1927 in Princeton, N.C. the son of William H. and Cora (Wiggs) Price. He proudly served his country in the Pacific as part of the U.S. Navy during World War II. Following his service, Jim moved to the area and began working for Eagle Picher as a battery builder. He worked there for 37 years before retiring in 1992. Jim served as a Deacon for the First Christian Church in Joplin.
He married Barbara Schreier in 1949, she preceded Jim in death in 1992. He was also preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Earl Price, a sister, Jennie Daughtry and by a granddaughter, Kristina Price. Survivors include two sons; Bob Price and wife Michelle of Joplin, James B. Price and wife Marcia of Raytown, Mo., two daughters; Marsha Rudd of Springfield, Mo., Sandy Flanagan and husband Jim of Olathe, Ks., six grandchildren; Sunny, Elizabeth, Kelli, Darci, Daniel and James, and five great-grandchildren.
A memorial service has been scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 19, 2018 at the Mason-Woodard Chapel. Rev. Fred Pugh will officiate. The family will receive friends during a time of visitation following the service.
