Roy Humble

Willis “Roy” Humble, 77, resident of Cherokee, Kansas, passed away March 3, 2019 at his home in Cherokee.
He was born February 2, 1942 in Rural Cherokee, Kansas, the son of Willis B. “Shorty” and Marjorie (Wickersham) Humble.

He was a graduate of Cherokee Community High School. Roy excelled at many sports throughout high school but one of his biggest accomplishments was placing at state in pole-vaulting. He was nicknamed “Moose” by his teammates.

He has been a lifelong resident of Cherokee, Kansas and has worked as a farmer all of his life.

On September 4, 1960, Roy married the love of his life, Barbara Montee at the Cherokee United Methodist Church; she resides at the home.

He attended church at Camp Joy Worship Center in Columbus, Kansas.

Roy loved any type of hunting but bow hunting was his favorite. He also enjoyed fishing. He loved rodeo and traveled to various rodeos with his kids. He coached Cherokee Little League Baseball.








Survivors include wife: Barbara Humble of Cherokee, KS; son: Royce (Debra) Humble of Cherokee, KS; son: Kelly (Elaine) Humble of Cherokee, KS; daughter: Amy (Patrick) Goodknight of Oronogo, MO; son: Heath Humble of Cherokee, KS; 6 grandchildren: Trevor Natalini, Walker Natalini, Mallorie Humble, Charley Goodknight, Kayann Humble, Ciara Humble, and great-grandson Wyatt Natalini.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents, his twin brother Ray Humble, his sister, Marjorie Lou Humble, and by his son, Troy Humble.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM Thursday, March 7, 2019 at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg, with Pastor Jeff Martin officiating. Burial will follow at the Hosey Hill Cemetery in Weir, KS.

The family will receive friends at 10 am prior to the service at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to be sent to Camp Joy Worship Center Church of Columbus, Kansas and/or the Nashville United Methodist Church of Nashville, Missouri.
