(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)Gary George Warren passed away September 20, 2020. He was born May 10, 1943 in Big Flats, NY. He served his country in the Air Force during the Vietnam War...once out, he worked his way through college to become an art teacher, graduating from MSSU.
He touched innumerable lives during his teaching career in Sarcoxie and Neosho. His passion for art and the love he had for his students were apparent. Many kept in contact and maintained their relationships with Gary well after they had graduated.
One of Gary’s passions was Flying RC planes. He was a member of the Sky Kings RC Club. This hobby had him traveling to meets around the area where he enjoyed the camaraderie of other enthusiasts who would become and remain close friends.
Gary’s Brother Jim and Sister Darla (Don Henderson) meant the world to him. Jim preceded Gary in death exactly 11 years ago - 9.20.2009.
It is likely that Gary didn’t know what he was getting himself into when he married the love of his life - Jane on July 3rd, 1981 and got Janet (Sonny Garman), Julie (Pete Hannon) and Jerry (Mechelle Musser) in the deal. He totally embraced the new instant family. Less than a year later the ready-made family made him a Grandpa. He loved his grandkids dearly. Aaron (Erin) Garman, Jamie Hatfield, Andy (Samantha) Garman, Taylor Hannon, Jordan Musser, Casey (Ryan) Sturdy and Darci Musser. He was also so proud to have 5 great-grandkids. Colby and Madison Garman, Aleigha Hatfield, and Molly and Carter Hannon.
Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Powers Cemetery East of Diamond. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to VFW Post 534. Arrangements are under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary.
