(From Ozark Funeral Home)Joe Carpenter, 66 of Southwest City, Missouri passed away Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at Ozarks Community Hospital in Gravette, Arkansas.
Joe entered this life on January 28, 1954 to the late Glen and Wanda Lee (Miller) Carpenter in Southwest City, Missouri. He grew up in Southwest City and later graduated from NEO in Miami in 1974 and OSU in 1976 with a degree in Business management.
On April 2, 2002 he was united in marriage to Karen Fischer in Chouteau, OK. He worked at the Tulsa Health Department in Special Operations for 30 years until retirement in 2006.
In 2007 he returned to Southwest City where he attended the Full Gospel Church. He was also mayor of Southwest City from 2014 until 2018. Joe enjoyed being outdoors hunting, and being a gifted artist, he often made custom knives for his family and friends. Joe was also known to give everyone he knew a nickname.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents and his sister; Glenna Price in 2018.
Joe is survived by his wife Karen of the home, a son; Ridge Drake Carpenter of Southwest City, four daughters; Brooke Bennett of Pryor, OK, Lane Hayes and husband Steve of Vinita, OK, Megan Ashberger and husband Daniel of Centerton, AR and Marissa Eshnaur and Mark Williams of Rogers, AR, and fourteen grandchildren as well as a host of other family and friends who will dearly miss him.
Funeral services for Mr. Joe Carpenter will be held Tuesday, September 22, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at the Full Gospel Church in Southwest City, Missouri with Pastor Richard Hart officiating. Burial will follow in the Southwest City Cemetery.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents and his sister; Glenna Price in 2018.

Those honoring his life as pallbearers are Randy Drake, Clint Whitenack, Hogan Apperson, Harley Apperson, Chris MaGee and Mike Price. Honorary pallbearers are Greg Damron, Jimmy Stauber, David Collinsworth, Darrel Robertson, David Wetzel, David Blake, Rick Drummond and Daniel Ashburger.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until service time on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society or Highlands Oncology Group in care of the funeral home.
