(From Parker Mortuary)Ruth Anne Lawrence, 107, of Joplin, passed away Wednesday, September 16, 2020, at Westgate at Wildwood Ranch.
A lifelong Joplin resident, she was born on October 15, 1912, to Thomas Milton Hawkins and Mary Anne Benton Hawkins. She graduated from Joplin High School in 1930.
Ruthie was a secretary-bookkeeper for Ramsey Dry Goods Company for 14 years, retiring in May of 1944. She was a beloved caretaker for her family and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Lawrence Welk fan. She loved sewing, knitting, and crocheting for family and friends and was an amazing organist, loving to entertain her family, friends, and church.
Ruthie married John F. Lawrence on January 9, 1943, in Joplin. They resided on a farm in the Redings Mill area for 52 years. Mr. Lawrence died on May 11, 1995.

She is also preceded in death by her parents, and one sister, Margaret Hawkins Hosp.
She is survived by one son, John B. Lawrence, Joplin; one grandson, Robin Lee Lawrence, Joplin; one granddaughter, Melissa Lawrence, Iowa; seven great-grandchildren; one nephew, Thomas Milton Hosp and wife Peggy, Joplin; one niece, Mary Ruth Hosp Carter, Georgetown, TX; four great-nieces, Tashsa Hosp Auman, Loma Linda, MO, Jennifer Hosp Burr, Loma Linda, MO, Amanda Hosp White, Carl Junction, MO, and Laurie Carter Michie, San Antonio, TX; two great-nephews, Jacob Hosp, Republic, MO, and Chris Carter, Georgetown, TX; 15 great-great-nieces; and four great-great-nephews.
Visitation will be Monday, September 21, 2020, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. and the funeral service will be Tuesday, September 22, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary. Graveside services immediately following at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery, Joplin.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin.
