(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)Beth Ann Snow, 53, died of ovarian cancer on June 14, 2024. She is survived by her mother, Carolyn Snow, and her brother, Brice Snow. Beth was born on October 13, 1970, in Joplin, MO, the child of Harlan Snow and Carolyn Breeden Snow.
Beth graduated with honors from Joplin High School. She graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from (Southwest) Missouri State University. She attended the master's program in history at Indiana University - Bloomington. She received a Master of Arts degree in English from Missouri State University. She graduated with a Master of Science, Library, & Information Science degree from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
Beth was employed by the Springfield-Greene County History Museum (1999-2002) and the Springfield-Greene County Library District (2002-2015). Beth was employed as Teen Librarian by the Joplin Public Library (2015-2024), where she created engaging programming and fostered a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for teens.
She enjoyed language, travel, reading, knitting, crafting, the cello, and “shenanigans.” Beth lightened the burdens of life for those around her with her quirky sense of humor, quick wit, fun-loving spirit, and sincere concern for others. She was a generous and thoughtful family member and friend and a passionate and inspiring librarian. Beth’s marvelous presence will be deeply missed.
Visitation will be at Mason-Woodard Chapel on Thursday, June 20, from 6-7pm.
Services will be at First Presbyterian Church in Joplin on Friday, June 21, at 2pm. A brief reception will be held at the church immediately following the ceremony before proceeding to Osborne Cemetery for graveside service and interment.
Donations in Beth’s honor may be made to the Joplin Public Library or the American Cancer Society.
