Dorothy Jane Jones, 90, Nevada, MO passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at Moore-Few Care Center in Nevada. Dorothy was born on October 20, 1933, in Nevada, MO to William Clifford and Lela Fern (Pyle) Porter. Dorothy was united in marriage to James Jones, Jr. on March 17, 1957 in Nevada, MO and he preceded her in death.

Dorothy graduated from Nevada High School in 1952. She was a homemaker and known as a wonderful cook. Church was very important in her life. She was very active as a member and Elder of Community of Christ Church in Nevada. She was also a very active member of ALANON. She enjoyed her trips with Jim to Estes Park, CO after his retirement. She cooked at many church camps and was a board member of Ozark Campgrounds.

Dorothy is survived by her three sons, Kenneth Jones (Gwen), Nevada, MO, Bill Jones, Joplin, MO, and George Jones, Nevada, MO; seven grandchildren, Chadd Jones, Clayton Jones, Chelsea Mendez, Aubrey Jones, Jillian Nicholas, Jakelyn Hays, and Jaleah Jones; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Shirley Heathman (Bob), Nevada, MO; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband, Jim, she was preceded in death by her parents; and an infant brother, Kenneth Lee.

Funeral services will be at 11:00a.m. on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at Ferry Funeral Home with Bill Garwood officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00a.m., prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Ozark Camp and Retreat Center or Community of Christ Church in c/o Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.
