Terri Chambell

(From Simpson Funeral Home)

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Terri Chambell on June 20, 2024. As her daughter, I, Kyla, am honored to share her story.

Terri was born on June 2, 1955, in Webb City, Missouri, to Clyde and Frankie Pendergraft. She lived a life full of love, resilience, and dedication.

Terri was a courageous woman who lived her life on her terms. She was a graduate of Webb City High School, class of 1973, and spent her entire professional career serving others at Oxford Healthcare in Joplin, Missouri. Terri’s dedication to her work was evident, and she retired in 2018 after many years of service.

As the novelist Paulo Coelho wrote, "Courage is the quality most essential to understanding the language of the world." Terri's courage and resilience were indeed her languages, as she navigated her life's journey.

Beyond her professional life, Terri was a dedicated mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She found her greatest joy in her family, her grandkids Ashlee, Payton, Emma, Quenton, and Aaron, and her great-grandkids brought her immense happiness. Terri was a supportive sister to her sibling, Sharri Smith, and a loving mother to Christopher Chambell and me. To say she was just family would be an understatement; she was the pillar that held us together. She loved the outdoors, camping, and fishing, but her absolute favorite pastime was losing herself in romance novels.

Terri was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde Pendergraft and Frankie Wolsey, her ex-husband Melvin Chambell, her brother Tim Pendergraft, her niece Vicki Pendergraft, her grandmother Bulah Chrisman, her grandfather Frank Chrisman, her stepfather Norman Wolsey, and her niece Charity Emery.

Despite the loss of these loved ones throughout her life, Terri remained a beacon of resilience and hope for all who knew her. As Maya Angelou once said, "I can be changed by what happens to me. But I refuse to be reduced by it." This was the essence of Terri's resilience.

A celebration of Terri's life will be held at a later date. Services are under the direction of Simpson Funeral Home. In Leu of Flowers please make your donations to Steve Fierro Memorial Scholarship at MSSU. The family encourages relatives and friends to visit www.simpsonfh.com to share photos and memories of our beloved Terri. Her life was a testament to courage, resilience, support, and dedication, and she will forever be remembered in our hearts.
