(From Derfelt Funeral Home)Joyce Elaine Sills, age 76 of Galena, passed away at 4:25 PM on Sunday, June 16, 2024 at Galena Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Joyce was born at Sale Memorial Hospital in Neosho, MO on September 2, 1947 to the union of Robert Darrel Francisco and Billie "Doris" (Shuey) Francisco. She had worked as a CNA at various healthcare facilities, but spent most of her adult life as a homemaker. She enjoyed reading, especially her Bible and James Patterson stories, playing video games on her iPad, and coloring and drawing. She had lived in McCune, KS, Joplin, MO, and Galena, KS, but she always found a church home wherever she lived, including Freedom Fellowship in Neosho, MO and House of Prayer in Riverton, KS.
She was united in marriage with Otto W. Sills on July 8, 1975 in Miami, OK. He preceded her in death on June 29, 2019.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Doris Francisco; her sister, Mary Dudley; stepdaughter, Glenda Sills.
Survivors include three daughters, Mecheal Hopkins (husband, Michael) of Baxter Springs; Vickie Locke (husband, Tim) of Norman, OK, and Kimberly Michael-Hall (husband, Kevin) of Joplin; three sons, Michael Ray Scribner (wife, Michelle) of Joplin, Eddie Scott (wife, Lori) of Neosho, MO, and Danny Sills of Norman, OK; one sister, Wilma Robins of Seneca, MO; as well as 10 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at Riverton House of Prayer at 2:00 PM on Thursday, June 20, 2024. Pastor Audie Tash will officiate. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery of Galena. Pallbearers serving will be Michael Hopkins, Joshua Hopkins, Kevin Watson, KC Hopkins, Brandon Burrington, and Zachary McLean.
