(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)Glenda “Marzy” Burke, age 77, of Joplin, Missouri, passed away peacefully sleeping in her home on July, 12, 2025.
She was a devoted Christian, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to so many.
Marzy was born April 28, 1948, to George and Adalene Chapman in Carthage, Missouri. She attended Cave Springs Elementary School, worked at Reba’s Diner in Sarcoxie, Missouri from 12 years of age until she graduated high school at Sarcoxie High School in 1965.
Two years later she married the love of her life, Fred R. Burke, on June 7, 1968. They resided in Saginaw where they had three children, Tisha, Brian and Susie.
Marzy had several good jobs, as a real estate agent, night manager at Safeway Bakery, and a production manager at Gulf States Company, where she retired at the age of 55. Her best times were raising her kids, taking them and all their friends to the lake and to Kansas City to watch the Royals play.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Fred Burke, three children, Tisha Doyle, Brian Burke, Susie McVay (Lucas); six grandchildren, Morgan Lock (Joe), Hayley Wyatt (Brandon), Tommy Doyle, Jake Doyle, Kylee Burke, Kohl Burke; two great grandchildren, Riley and Braxton Wyatt; two sisters, Carolyn Carr, Lisa Orr; three brothers, Dale Chapman, David Chapman, Don Chapman, as well as several nieces, nephews and so many friends and her dog Lane.
Marzy enjoyed being outside planting flowers, being with family and always out fishing the boys. She loved with her whole heart and will be missed every day. She was a wonderful mom and grandma.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Michael Joseph and staff for all the care provided.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Thursday July 17, 2025 at Forest Park Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:00-7:00 pm Wednesday at the mortuary.
In lieu of flowers contributions are requested to the Joplin Humane Society and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
