(From Parker Mortuary)Robert Alvin Green, Sr., a cherished father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on July 1, 2025, in Joplin, Missouri, at the age of 83. He was born on September 28, 1941, in Kewanee, Illinois, to the late Glen and Eileen (Pettit) Green.
Robert spent many years as a skilled machinist at Mura Enterprise. He met and married Barbara (Connor) Green in Bell Gardens, CA and they lived happily until her passing. He then met his life partner; Nada Jennings and they were together until her passing in 2024.
He was a legend in the world of slot car racing, Robert's enthusiasm for the sport was infectious. An avid lover of the outdoors, Robert's happiest moments were spent fishing and camping. At the Senior Citizen Center, Robert was known for his warm presence and the genuine connections he forged with friends. His recent venture into country dancing brought him to the Hootenanny weekly. He was also a familiar face at the local mall each morning, where he joined other early birds in their daily walks, greeting each new day with vigor and a friendly smile.
Robert's love for his family was evident in the simple joys he cherished, such as meeting halfway for Chinese food. He loved the time spent with his children and grandchildren. Above all, Robert was a man who loved to help others. Whether lending a hand or an ear, his kindness and willingness to support those around him were hallmarks of his character. His legacy is one of love, laughter, and the countless lives he touched with his generosity.
Robert is survived by his children, Anita Peretti, Greg Peretti, and Robert Green, Jr.; grandchildren, Katy, Anthony, Nathaniel, Amanda, Michael, Noah, and Isabella; 14 great- grandchildren; and dear friend, Jim Moss.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Patricia.
Cremation arrangements are under the direct care of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, MO.
